New Rules for the Comments

Congratulations. You've worn down my patience and comments can no longer be completely anonymous. You must now have either a Google ID or an OpenID account to post a comment.

I apologize to those who were posting and maintaining the proper level of civility. I really wanted to leave the comments open to anonymous posters because I thought it would be the best way to incite real, honest exchanges. Silly me, huh?

How hypocritical. You require others to show some kind of an identity, yet you remain anonymous.

BruceH,

The fact that you have to sign in doesn't mean you are no longer anonymous. Loged in commentator's identity's are no more or less exposed than I unless they choose to reveal more than their username.

Even though you signed in as halifaxcentral and signed your post, I really have no idea who you are. I've seen your name on halifaxtalk.com, but I still don't know who you are.

I do see your point, and that is why anonymous comments were enabled on this blog from the beginning. If the discourse hadn't fallen to the third grade level, then anonymous comments would still be allowed. This blog isn't about Darrin, Bunny, tarheel, or anyone else on halifaxtalk.com, and I'm just trying to steer it away from that and the useless namecalling.

It was either require a login or moderate the comments with an iron fist, and I honestly don't have time to do that.

In any event, thanks for reading my blog.
