I have received several emails from readers that want to know who I am. For my own job security and safety, I cannot divulge that information. However, I will confirm the following facts about myself:
- I am a middle aged man.
- My political views typically align with the libertarians, but I lean to the left on a lot of issues.
- I am not employed in the law enforcement community.
Regardless, my identity isn't the important thing. It's the issues! I welcome anonymous posts for the simple reason that I respect everyone's right to privacy.
Keep those comments and emails coming, and recommend this blog to all your friends!

Well, not being in law enforcement means you are not my first guess. But the second one could still apply.
It is not that big a deal, you are right the issues are what is important.
However, surely you expect people to try and figure it out.
You are right. I did expect people to wonder about my identity.
I wonder how amazed people would be if I revealed my identity?
People often think that you dont have a clue as to what goes on unless you tell whom you are.
I dont care what anyone says, I take all as truth until proven otherwise.
I won't go so far as to say that I take everything as truth until proven otherwise, but there is definitely an advantage to being able to speak your mind without worrying about your job or personal safety.
I tent to believe people until they give me a reason not to, and that's all I ask in return. I haven't posted anything that I've known to be wrong, and I expect that of commentators, even the anonymous ones.
I would think that most post under the covers are usually speaking the truth. However, you have to take it all with a grain of salt.
Truly how do you really ever know the truth unless you are right there when it all goes down.
You do know that you are in competition with another board?
HN you do realize that the "man behind the curtain" hid behind the curtain NOT to tell the truth but to conceal his lies don't you? You do realize that when you say "I haven't posted anything I KNOW to be wrong" is not the same thing as "I tell the truth" but more like a student saying "I don't feel tardy" when they arrive late for class, right?
I have not seen anything on here posted by HN, that has not been truthful.
The admin. of HalifaxTalk recently had to apologize for assuming something and insisting on presenting it as a cold hard fact.
As of yet, HN has been totally above board.
I am not competing against anyone else. There is plenty of room on the internet for everyone's opinion. I'm simply telling things that I know and questioning our slackening government. Our of curiosity, what site are you talking about? I would be interested in reading it.
When I said that I haven't posted anything that I know is false, that is exactly what I meant. Not everything I've posted is first hand knowledge, therefor I'm placing my trust in my source. If I think something is a lie, I don't post it. What, exactly, are you saying I've lied about?
I do not automatically discount anonymous posters, in fact I am doing one now - - he, he.
However, if it becomes obvious from one's posts that they are grinding an axe, and I have no basis with which to judge the veracity of their statements (by knowing who they are, and what agenda they may have)then I have to start wondering, and therefore credibility factor of their postings are at least somewhat diminished.
halifaxtalk
I cant even get on that site now. Is it down?
I'm just saying that "I tell the truth" means just that - the truth. "I don't say anything I KNOW to be false" is not necessarily telling the truth, especially since you evidently post things as "fact" when you have no knowledge of the subject. But that makes sense if its okay to present something as fact just so long as you don't KNOW it to be false.
I don't know that you have said anything deliberately false but to say you tell the "truth" while hiding behind the curtain and posting information as "fact" which is received from 2nd hand info (and not disclosing where the info comes from) and the only standard to be met is that one doesn't KNOW such info to be false doesn't add to your credibilty but detracts from it.
1) I didn't start this site to compete with HalifaxTalk.com. Blogs are very different beasts than forums. I enjoy reading HalifaxTalk.com, and I wish them continued success.
2) Blogs are all about opinions. I have my opinions and I choose to share them on this blog. If I wanted to write verifiable articles I would apply for a job at one of the local newspapers (goodness knows they could use a real reporter).
3) You are free to believe whatever you wish; take me as a liar or not; read this blog or not. I support your right to question my posts. That is one reason I allow anonymous comments. I'm not asking anyone to accept my posts as gospel. If you find my musings interesting, GREAT. If you don't, that's fine too.
"The admin. of HalifaxTalk recently had to apologize for assuming something and insisting on presenting it as a cold hard fact."
Why did that moron lie about?
Yeah, I tried to log in to halifaxtalk the other day, and the site was down then, too! I'm demanding my $50 membership fee back!
the dude that runs that place thinks he is someone because he has a site now. Give me a break! Cant live on daddys money or fame all the time.
If It wasnt for a select few that go back and forth that place aint worth reading.
And I have not been able to get on there in a week or so....
What did he have to take back? Does anyone know?
As far as posting goes. Rumors make the world go around.
People say this and that, but when it comes down to it, we all decide what is true or not.....
"the dude that runs that place thinks he is someone because he has a site now. Give me a break! Cant live on daddys money or fame all the time."
EXACTLY!
But I'd like his site better if he'd get rid of that jerk tarheel.
"If It wasnt for a select few that go back and forth that place aint worth reading.
And I have not been able to get on there in a week or so...."
He probably banned your stupid butt.
"What did he have to take back? Does anyone know?"
Yeah, that idiot claimed that the fire, building, and health inspector had been called to harass Ziggy's and get them to just close up.
He was wrong and admitted it.
The health inspector was not called in.
He's a moron.
Lol, Ziggys.........That figures, just down from daddys place.
He cant band me, Im not a member. But I would like to get on and see what crap is there now.
Tarheel? Oh the fool that goes against anything with Noblin?
grace right?
Im sure he will post here now, I bet he does already.
"He cant band me, Im not a member"
Maybe you flunked the spelling and punctuation test to log in.
Enough with the name calling in the comments. Say whatever you want, but keep jerk, idiot, and all other names out or your post and on the playground where they belong.
At least he has posts under his own name and does not use "anonymous" to hide behind.
At least he had the integrity to post that he was wrong on one third of his facts.
At least you can read the whole story of Halifaxtalk.com, not just "anonymous" comments.
At least at HT, you don't have to guess who the moderators are. We have nothing to hide.
At least he does not hide behind "anonymous" labels so he can call folks "morons".
At least he used his time to give this county a bulletin board to participate on.
And the post about the "$50 membership fee" is an outright lie...but I guess you can do that when you are "anonymous".

You're just saying that because you're his sister.
"Enough with the name calling in the comments. Say whatever you want, but keep jerk, idiot, and all other names out or your post and on the playground where they belong."
You going to band me?
"You going to ban[-d] me?"
No, but I will start deleting comments that violate the rules.
"No, but I will start deleting comments that violate the rules."
It was that other anonymous guy doing that.
